Located in the town of Sancti Spiritus and on the edge of the "Extremadura Siberia," next to the extensive region of La Serena, near the large reservoir of the same name – La Serena – one of the largest lakes in Europe, and close to those of Orellana, Garcia Sola, Zújar and Cíjara, it is the largest expanse of fresh water in Spain and an incomparable setting for lovers of sport fishing for carp, barbel, pike, black bass, and the practice of sports such as swimming, sailing, water skiing, boating, etc.
WATER, quoting Unamuno, is “THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE LANDSCAPE”, but to speak of La Serena and La Siberia in Extremadura is not just to speak of water, it is to speak of mountains, forests, hunting, lakes, fishing, vast plains, grazing, valleys with a mosaic of colors, rocky cliffs, in short, it is to speak of an incomparable NATURE that induces peace, serenity and health.

La Siberia is characterized by a mountainous landscape and forests of holm oaks, gall oaks, and chestnut trees, very close to Las Villuercas and Guadalupe. Deer and wild boar roam freely in a paradise like the Cijara reserve, which, with more than 25,000 hectares, makes it the largest big game reserve.
In contrast, La Serena is a large, flat, slightly hilly plateau with fine pastures where hares abound and red-legged partridges reign supreme.
Hunting enthusiasts will find Serena and Siberia the ideal place to practice hunting.
Protected areas, SPAs, geoparks, etc. have made these regions the ideal place for nature sports: hiking, horse riding, cycling, paragliding, even climbing on the great cliffs, where vultures, eagles and black storks nest, places of attraction for ornithologists who are fond of observing and spotting birds.
Its gastronomy deserves special mention, standing out for its variety and quality, magnificently represented by the products derived from Iberian pigs that graze on acorns in the holm oak forests, including hams, loins, and sausages, as well as cheeses and the famous La Serena flatbreads made with the milk of sheep that graze on the nutritious pastures of this land. And what can be said of the quality of our olive oils from Pela, and the honey and pollen from Fuenlabrada de los Montes?

We cannot fail to mention the varied stews that are prepared with care and tradition in the different towns of the area with natural and local products such as wild asparagus, various mushrooms, truffles, cardoons,…: migas, calderetas, stews, roasts, various game stews, seasoned fish, sweets, fritters, pestiños, roscas,…and a very long etc.
In the Bar Restaurant «El Escorial», owned by the same people as the Rural House «El Palomeque», you will find a magnificent representation of the traditional cuisine of the area.
