In 2019, UNESCO put on the world map a previously unknown territory in the northeasternmost part of the province of Badajoz: the La Siberia Biosphere Reserve.
The La Siberia Biosphere Reserve is working on the action plan that led them to obtain the Unesco mention and on a new Tourism Sustainability Plan endowed in 2021 with more than 2 million euros, which will be invested in the territory to become a national reference for that other tourism (more conscious, slow and respectful of the environment), a growing alternative.
